A luxury you can afford ...

Sailing may seem like an expensive hobby but the Macgregor 26, from the leading trailer boat builder in America, has been developed to reach a much wider market.  The fact that is produced in large numbers means it costs far less to make per unit than any competitor.  It is lighter than any rival is too, making it suitable for 3-litre cars to tow and to easy pull out of the water.
The Macgregor 26 is as maintenance free as any boat can be.  The rigging is of anodised aluminium and stainless steel.  The fibreglass hull and deck need only an occasional waxing.  The cushions and carpets can be easily removed for cleaning.  Unlike boats that have fabric bonded to the walls and ceilings, (which are hard to dry and mildew badly) this boats' interior can be hosed out.

Safe and reliable ...

The Macgregor 26 has built in solid foam flotation to keep it afloat in the event of damage.   It won't sail fast when fully flooded - but it beats swimming home!
The relatively flat bottom required for high speed powering creates one of the most stable sailboats that you will ever find.  The 26 is self-righting - even with the water ballast tank filled.

Sailing performance ...

This is one of the best handling and fastest, trailerable cruising sailboats available anywhere.  If you are buying a sailboat for the first time, performance and racing may seem of little interest to you.  However a boat that performs well is generally safer and easier to sail.  It will certainly yield greater long-term enjoyment.
The 26 balances beautifully.  Big twin rudders give excellent control and you can maintain a perfect course with a touch of the wheel.  The 26's light weight and its powerboat underbelly allows the boat to get up on top of the water and plane in heavy winds.   In such conditions, these boats have exceeded 15 knots under sail.  Most small sailboats with their round bottoms and heavy keels have speeds limited to around six mph.

Sails up to the beach ...

Big yachts are great for long voyages but, when it comes to exploring the secluded bays and inlets along the Asian coastline, their deep keels often force them to stay a long way offshore.
The Macgregor, with a 'kick-up' keel and rudder, can sail to a depth of just 9 inches.  This means it can explore rivers and what's more -- with the mast easily lowered can pass safely under most bridges!

Trailer sailing in Malaysia ...

The advent of trailer-sailers brings a new dimension to holidays in Malaysia, as well as Thailand and Indonesia, with miles and miles of unspoiled coastline and crystal clear blue waters readily accessible to those with a boat.
There now are slipways located near most seaside towns, and new marinas are being developed all over the region.  The Macgregor, light enough to be towed behind a standard sized car, can reach these at highway speeds - opening up a greater choice of cruising grounds than any conventional six-mph sailboat.
With accommodation for six adults, the Macgregor is ideal for a family or for a group of friends.  On land or on the water, there's no need to worry about searching for vacancies in crowded hotels
